What to Expect When You Visit APS

Your First Visit:
For non-emergency visits, patients will be given the first available appointment, usually within two weeks of the time the call is received. Every effort will be made to schedule the appointment at a time that is convenient for the patient.

Upon arrival to the APS office, you will be asked to complete forms to provide some basic demographic information. You will be asked to complete a Patient Satisfaction Survey which measures your assessment of the accessibility of APS services. This information helps us better meet your needs and expectations.

Each patient is asked to complete an outcome measurement questionnaire which helps the clinician evaluate your condition upon arrival and helps in the development of a treatment plan based on your specific needs and condition. Later during the treatment process, you will be asked to complete the questionnaire again which helps to determine your progress and response to treatment interventions.

After these forms are completed, patients will be seen by either a licensed therapist or a psychiatrist. An initial assessment will be conducted to help understand your needs and to help formulate an individualized treatment plan.

Your first visit may last from an hour to an hour and a half. Our staff respects your time and schedule. We will make every effort to minimize wait time prior to your appointment.

Your next visit:
Your next visit may be with the therapist, physician, or both depending on your needs. The physician or therapist may recommend that you attend one of the special group therapies or educational groups to further assist you in reaching your individual treatment goals. Only patients referred by their physician or therapist may attend these groups.
